Mr. Leonard and Mrs. Likens' class is selling hot beverages to Middle School Faculty and Staff through the "Windsor Way Cafe". Students are responsible for planning, organizing, and carrying out the sale of coffee, tea, and hot cocoa. All beverages cost $.50. Faculty and staff can go to Mr. Leonard's room for the beverage of choice or they can e-mail or call and have their beverage delivered. Beverages are brewed fresh throughout the day starting at 7:30am and continuing until the beginning of mod 10 (1:27pm). Beverages can be served in your own mug, a Windsor mug bought from the cafe (if you buy a mug you get your first "fill-up" free), or get a "to go" cup for an extra $.25. The Windsor Way Cafe has started a promotion when you buy 8 cups you get the 9th cup free. Along with the delivery service, students also have a mug washing service.
The students are in charge of tracking progress, creating spreadsheets, and keeping track of tabs for teachers who do not have any loose change for the day. Not only is the endeavor teaching many valuable business skills, but the proceeds of the cafe are going toward grants for individual or group class trips. Students in the 12:1:1 and the 15:1:1 classes who are interested in obtaining a grant must complete an application process and present to a panel made up of students and teachers.
The Officers for the Club are:
Dadreana Lehr, President
Cassidy Wolcott, Vice President
Megan Kelly, Secretary
Mary Marple McCloe and Brandon Paige, Treasurers
Overall, the Windsor Way Cafe is a collaborative effort, and it is going very well! With the help of Student Council, the cafe has raised almost $250.00 through the cafe and Windsor Coffee Mug Sale.
