Teen Summit
For the first year the Windsor eighth graders attended the “Teen Summit” at the Owego Treadway Conference Center. The conference is sponsored by Mothers and Babies Perinatal Network of South Central New York and funded by a grant from the New York State Department of Health.
The abstinence education program, “Worth the Wait,” focuses on healthy relationships, waiting to be a parent and making good decisions. What is unique about this program is that it utilizes an “edutation” delivery style: a combination of education and entertainment. Students have follow-up program in Health class. Evaluation of the program is conducted by the Kresge School of Nursing Research at Binghamton University.
