Good attendance and success in school go hand-in-hand. Parents and students must work together in order to achieve this success. Please make every effort to have your child attend school regularly, be on time, and remain in school until dismissal time. Here are a few attendance reminders:
When a student is absent, a note must be sent in when the student returns. A phone call does not count. If a note is not received within 3 days of the student’s return to school the absence will be illegal. It is important that this note contain the following information:
- The student’s full, legal name. Please be sure to put first and last name. Do not use nicknames or middle names. Write clearly ; many students do not get the proper credit for absences due to illegible notes, or names that cannot be identified.
- The month, day, and year of the absence. All notes are kept in an attendance folder that follows your student from kindergarten through graduation, so they must be dated properly.
- The reason for the absence. You do not have to go into detail about an illness - “sick” will do. A note with no reason counts as an illegal absence.

The above procedures also apply to tardy notes.
Perfect attendance is awarded to a student who has no absences and two or less legal tardies.
Legal tardies include doctor appointments, family illness or funerals, and attending religious
services. If you have questions regarding your child’s attendance, please call Ms. Cobb
