Proposition: "Restoration of the WINDSOR stones"
As a teacher, parent, and resident of Windsor, I have a great deal of pride for the community. I want to extend this pride into the classroom by developing a school wide project focusing on the restoration fo the WINDSOR stones. Middle School students will cut away debris and paint the stones white. This will be followed by adding a "W" shaped flower bed just above the stones. The "W" would be cut, centered and outlined with bluestone. The interior of the "W" would be used as the flower bed.
During the week of "Earth Day", every student at AF Palmer will begin growing a yellow marigold. High School/Middle School students would be invited to help assemble and layout stone, and help elementary students on the hill to plant flowers. The incline of the hill is great concern, but with careful planning and organization it shouldn't be an issue.
The plan is to replace the stones during the beginning/middle of May and to have the new flower bed laid out by the first of June. Flowers will be added during mid June. Yellow margolds have been selected due their color and success rate for growing/maintaining.
Donated supplies: Bluestone from the Mirch family - Bill has offered to deliver and cut each piece. The village will donate top soil/planting soil and any other items needed to help set the stones. Tim Martino will help with transporting stones, setup and layout.
The Windsor Gardening Group is willing to come help students with the initial planting of the seeds.
Additional Supplies will include:
FLOWERS:
Marigold seeds
Planters
Planting Soil
Trays
